And it became a stop along Route 66, bringing tourism and economy to the city.
Many schools serve the Sapulpa area (public and private). Freedom Elementary is one of the top-rated schools. The students excel in academics, and the school has a diverse population of students. Sapulpa High School offers great college prep including AP classes. And for students who want to learn at their own pace or catch up on missing courses, the school now has the Virtual Academy.
Lake Sahoma offers camping, hiking, hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities to Sapulpa residents. Kelly Lane Park is another great area for families to spend time. And each Christmas season, Sapulpa hosts the Christmas Parade in its downtown and has the Native American Christmas market.
For historians and car lovers, check out the Heart of Route 66 Auto Museum or have fun viewing vintage cars at the Waite Phillips Service station, built for Route 66.
Sapulpa has some great thrifting and antiquing. It also houses some Oklahoma-style restaurants for good country eating including:
